JON SPENCER TRAINING & CONSULTING LTD

Jon Spencer Training & Consulting Ltd (JSTC) has been operating for over 20 years and specialises in Creative Training and Facilitation for organisations.

Although based in the Bristol area, JSTC has clients throughout the UK and overseas.

JSTC follows the increasingly common model of a virtual consultancy – few core employees, but a wider network of associates which share the same values and adopt a similar approach to working.

Jon says “Using the network of trusted associates means that we can deliver large-scale, national or global programmes, but keep costs down”.

Tailored in-company Training

Our approach is to design a programme which meets your organisation’s objectives and the needs of the participants.

We are recognised for our creative and innovative approach to designing and delivering learning events. We avoid the ‘now-hear-this’, powerpoint-driven, trainer-centred method.

All training is conducted in a highly interactive and participative style; the process is empowering, and the content is always practical, challenging and relevant.

Each course is backed up by a comprehensive and high-quality set of reference materials.

The result is always that participants go away energised, taking with them new insights, skills and techniques to improve effectiveness in the workplace.

Here are some examples of the training we can offer:

  • facilitation skills
  • advanced interviewing
  • time management
  • training for trainers
  • effective business writing
  • coaching skills
  • performance management
  • influencing & assertiveness
  • managing change
  • presentation skills
  • effective meetings
  • leading people
  • managing challenging conversations

Facilitation

“We’d had two meetings already with our contractor which were spectacularly unproductive – we constantly got drawn into side issues, blame-throwing and cycles of conflict.

“For our third meeting, we decided to bring Jon in as an independent facilitator. The difference was remarkable – the day went so much more smoothly. We were able to get agreement on all the key decisions, and retained good working relationships as a basis for future co-operation”

(Head of an MoD naval procurement team engaged in difficult contract delivery discussions).

Independent professional facilitation for all types of meetings and events, for groups of 3 to 100+ people:

  • Team Away-days
  • Conflict resolution
  • Open Space events
  • Conferences
  • Client workshops
  • Strategy development / business planning
  • Negotiations
  •  Action Learning

FACILITATION TRAINING

We offer practical training for anyone who facilitates groups. It is highly participative and designed to help delegates achieve a comprehensive understanding of the process and develop the skills of facilitation.

Delegates will receive a ‘Facilitator’s Toolkit’ containing a range of powerful techniques they can utilise back at work.

Objectives

As a result of completing this facilitation training course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Define facilitation and be able to choose a facilitation style appropriate to the event.
  2. Support the group in achieving agreed goals
  3. Work with dynamics of the groups to build consensus and overcome obstacles
  4. Ensure every member of the group is able to contribute fully and constructively
  5. Handle difficult situations/people with confidence
  6. Use a range of facilitations tools to maintain pace and introduce variety

“I wish all the conference sessions I attend were this well organised and facilitated”
